The simulation is highly regarded for its mix of commuter and freight operations along the scenic route, calling at 26 stations including San Francisco 4th & King Street and San Jose Diridon.

• Gameplay Modes: The route offers a full 24-hour service mode timetable, five unique scenarios, and tutorials. Players can also explore the environment, ride as a passenger, or hunt for collectibles.

Availability and Licensing Changes

The add-on has been available across numerous versions of the game, including Train Sim World 2020, TSW 2, TSW 3, TSW 4, and the latest TSW 6.

Important Note on Branding: Due to licensing adjustments, the original Caltrain-branded version of the route was delisted from digital stores in early 2025. A new, unbranded version, titled Train Sim World® 6: Peninsula Corridor: San Francisco – San Jose, was released on October 16, 2025.

If you previously owned the original Caltrain-branded version, you retain access to it within supported games. Existing owners can typically download the new unbranded version for free on the same platform.

Expanding the Experience

• The “Baby Bullet” expansion adds the MPI MP36PH-3C diesel locomotive and Bombardier bi-level commuter equipment for faster express services.
