The New Journeys Expansion is a major add-on for Train Sim World 2, released on February 17, 2022. It injects new life into the game’s three original base routes—the Bakerloo Line, Sand Patch Grade, and Schnellfahrstrecke Köln-Aachen—by adding new locomotives, liveries, services, and scenarios.

The expansion focuses on introducing variety and fresh gameplay challenges across diverse railway environments:
- Bakerloo Line (London Underground): Introduces the 1972 Mk2 Tube Stock in its classic brushed aluminium and red livery, complete with special railtour services celebrating its 50-year history.
- Sand Patch Grade (CSX): Features the venerable SD40 diesel locomotive in an early CSX Blue & Gray scheme, offering additional heavy freight and switching operations.
- Schnellfahrstrecke Köln-Aachen (Deutsche Bahn): Adds the DB BR 423 Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) for high-density S-Bahn (commuter rail) duties, including new S12 and S19 services between Köln, Horrem, and Düren.

- New Timetables: The new rolling stock is fully integrated into existing timetables, enhancing operational variety and traffic.
- Scenarios and Training: The expansion includes nine detailed scenarios (three for each route) and new training modules for the added trains.
- Compatibility: The content works with the in-game Livery Designer and Scenario Planner tools for extensive customization. Individual components were later updated for compatibility with Train Sim World 3 as separate add-ons.
